RV Roofs
RV roofs, sprayed seamless.
Rubber RV roofs leak at seams, vents and lap sealant. A sprayed RV roof seals all of them in one continuous membrane.
Overview
RV Roof Coating
Most RV roof leaks start where the membrane meets something: a vent, an AC unit, a skylight or the front and rear caps. Lap sealant dries out and cracks, and water gets into the decking. A spray-applied RV roof covers the whole top, including every penetration, with one seamless layer.
ArmorThane offers two RV roof systems. One uses SureGrip as the basecoat with ArmorDeck Topcoat over it. The other is ArmorFlex UV, an aliphatic coating sprayed on its own with no topcoat. Your applicator will recommend the right one after looking at your roof.
Why polyurea
Why it works here.
Seals every opening
Vents, AC units and skylights are sprayed into the same membrane.
No lap sealant to redo
There are no lap seams to reseal every season.
Two proven systems
SureGrip with ArmorDeck Topcoat, or ArmorFlex UV on its own.
Process
Most of the work happens before the spray gun comes out.
-
01
Inspect and assess
A trained applicator walks the roof, checks for trapped moisture, tests adhesion on the existing surface and looks at drainage, flashings and penetrations. You get a written scope for your roof.
-
02
Prepare the surface
Loose material comes off. Wet or failed areas are cut out and replaced. Fasteners, seams and cracks are repaired, the surface is cleaned, and the right primer goes down for the substrate.
-
03
Detail, then spray
Drains, curbs, vents and edges are detailed first. Then the polyurea is sprayed with heated plural-component equipment into one continuous, fully adhered membrane at the specified thickness.
-
04
Topcoat and check
Where the roof sees direct sun, a UV-stable topcoat goes on if the system calls for one. The crew checks film thickness, walks every detail and cleans up.
-
05
Keep it maintained
Clear drains, keep traffic off where it does not belong and book a periodic inspection. Small damage can be cleaned and re-sprayed in place instead of tearing anything off.
Does the old rubber roof come off?
It depends on its condition. Loose or failed membrane and any soft decking are dealt with before the new system goes on.
How long will my RV be in the shop?
It depends on how much repair the roof needs. Ask your applicator for a schedule when they inspect it.
Can I spray RV roofs as a business?
Yes. RV roofing is one of the services ArmorThane trains applicators to offer. See Become an Applicator.
